The Christ Child Society of Boca Raton participates in a layette program, which is the unifying program across all chapters and honors our founder. The layette program helps to support new parents by providing all the essentials newborns need - clothing, blankets, diapers, wipes, towels, bibs, bottles, and more. We also provide board books and guidance on how to help babies acquire vocabulary by encouraging reading. We partner with the local social service agency and local hospitals in Palm Beach County to distribute the layettes to new mothers in low income-households.
Each summer our chapter works with a local Title 1 elementary school to determine the specific school supply needs that students need to ease the financial strain on parents and to support the students through school year. Our backpack program is fully funded through a CCSBR legacy donation and our treasury covers the cost of the backpacks.
Early childhood word acquisition and literacy are critical to a child’s success in school and life. With the goal of fostering the love reading, each layette we prepare includes board books. We also include information for parents on the importance of reading to their children.
Since many children in lower income households don’t have adequate access to books outside of school we have established an elementary school literacy program to address this need. By closely partnering with teachers, Christ Child Boca Raton supplements their reading material by providing books that children can take home — giving them a chance to build their personal libraries.
We are a participating chapter in the Christ Child Society National Day of Service. Chapters nationwide collect over 100,000 books that are then given to children in the community in order to foster the love of reading that leads to success in school, and life.
For over 20 years our members have helped children enjoy the Easter season by creating over 60 beautiful Easter baskets overfilled with toys, books and goodies - enough to share with family members. The baskets are shared with children at an Easter party at a local soup kitchen. These baskets, which the members fund, give us a chance to share the joy of the Easter season with the children and their families.
